El Regreso Offers a Valuable Service to Immigrant Workers in the U.S.
Repatriation of Remains to the Worker's Country of Origin
Typically, individuals from Mexico and other Latin American countries who are working in America want to be buried in their home country in the event they pass away while working in the US.
Arranging and paying for the return of mortal remains can be a complex and expensive process, normally requiring extensive coordination and costing between $4,000 and $10,000. This can create additional hardships for grieving family members, who are forced to make (and pay for) transportation arrangements. In some cases this responsibility and expense can even revert to the employer.
To address this pressing issue, El Regreso, Virginia Surety and On Call International are joining forces to offer repatriation of mortal remains as a service to immigrant workers in the United States. For a modest annual fee of $70 per year immigrant workers will have the peace of mind of knowing that the burden of returning their remains to their homeland will be taken care of.
Repatriation of remains is a time consuming, budget busting and an agonizing process for friends, family and the Mexican government alike”

For Mexicans, the bonds of the family unit are very strong, The bond is broken when they go to work in the United States. It is restored in death. Home at least in death is south of the border.
